No, you don’t need to bring anything! At The Fashion Class, we provide everything you need for a successful sewing experience. This includes high-quality sewing machines, a variety of fabrics, threads, scissors, pins, and other essential tools. We believe in making it easy for you to dive into learning without worrying about purchasing equipment. If you have your own fabric or special materials you'd like to use, you’re welcome to bring them, but it’s entirely optional. We want you to focus on having fun and mastering new skills, so we handle all the setup for you.

Our sewing classes cater to all skill levels, from absolute beginners to seasoned sewists. If you’ve never touched a sewing machine before, our instructors will guide you through the basics, including threading the machine, making your first stitches, and understanding fabric types. For those with more experience, we offer advanced techniques like pattern drafting, complex garment construction, and custom alterations. Each class is designed to be flexible, allowing the instructor to adjust the content based on the skill levels of the students present, ensuring everyone progresses at their own pace.

We keep our class sizes small, typically ranging from 6-10 students per session. This small group setting allows for personalized instruction and one-on-one guidance from our experienced teachers. You won’t be left waiting for help; our instructors make sure to give each student ample attention, answering questions and assisting with individual projects. We offer both single-session workshops for those wanting a quick introduction to sewing and multi-week courses for students interested in a deeper dive. Single classes are great for learning specific skills, such as zipper installation or alterations, while our longer courses cover comprehensive topics like garment construction and pattern-making. There’s no long-term commitment required, so you can tailor your learning experience to fit your schedule and interests.

The projects you’ll work on depend on the class you choose and your experience level, but we offer a wide variety to keep things exciting. Beginners might start with simple items like tote bags, pillowcases, or skirts to build foundational skills.

Intermediate and advanced students can tackle more complex projects such as tailored dresses, jackets, or custom tops. We also teach alterations and upcycling, so you can learn how to refresh old clothing into new, unique pieces. You’ll leave each class with completed projects you can wear, gift, or proudly display.

If you’re unsure about where to start, our friendly staff can help you choose a class based on your interests and goals. We also offer beginner-friendly lessons focusing on specific skills like hemming, fabric cutting, and basic alterations, so there’s something for everyone.

Absolutely! While we provide all the necessary materials, you’re more than welcome to bring your own fabric or a personal project you’d like to work on. Whether it’s a special piece of fabric you’ve been saving or a garment you want to alter, our instructors will help you incorporate it into the class. Bringing your own project can be a great way to get personalized guidance and make progress on something meaningful to you. Just let us know ahead of time, and we’ll make sure to support your creative vision.

We recommend wearing comfortable, casual clothing that allows you to move freely, as you’ll be working with sewing machines and moving around the studio. Avoid wearing long, loose sleeves or dangling jewelry that could get caught in the equipment. Closed-toe shoes are also a good idea for safety. If you plan on fitting garments or working on alterations, consider wearing form-fitting clothing or bringing the items you want to alter. It’s all about being comfortable and safe while you focus on your sewing projects.

The Fashion Class offers a flexible but structured cancellation policy to accommodate changes when needed. Here’s how it works:

• Deposit: A 30% non-refundable deposit is required to secure your spot in the class. This deposit cannot be transferred to another student and is applied toward the total class fee.

• If The Fashion Class Cancels: If a class is canceled by The Fashion Class due to low enrollment, inclement weather, or other unforeseen circumstances, you will receive a full refund within 10 business days.

• If You Need to Cancel: If you need to cancel your registration, you must provide notice at least one week before the class start date. In this case, you will receive a refund of the balance paid, minus the non-refundable deposit. Cancellations made less than one week before the start date are not eligible for a refund.

• Date Transfers: You can transfer your registration to a different class date or time with at least one week’s notice, based on availability. Transfers must be of equal value and occur within the same season.

• No-Shows: If you do not show up for your scheduled class without prior notification, you will forfeit the full class fee. Please inform us ahead of time if you are unable to attend.
